What Is Spinal Decompression and How Does It Work?

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical treatment that gently stretches the spine using computer-controlled traction. The stretching creates negative pressure inside the spinal discs, which helps retract bulging or herniated disc material, takes pressure off compressed nerves, and draws nutrients back into damaged discs to promote healing.

Each session lasts 30 to 45 minutes. You lie on a motorized table while the system cycles through stretching and relaxation phases. Most patients describe it as a pulling sensation, not painful. A typical plan runs 20 to 30 sessions over 6 to 8 weeks.

  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Sciatica and nerve compression
  • Spinal stenosis narrowing the canal
  • Failed back surgery syndrome
  • Chronic lower back pain
  • MRI required before treatment

At Novaré, your first visit starts with digital x-rays and a thorough exam by the doctor. We don't adjust without imaging first.

● What Makes Us Different

Not a Typical Chiropractic Office. A Medical Corporation with a Chiropractic Foundation.

Most chiropractic visits last five to ten minutes. You get adjusted and you leave. That works for some people. But if your pain keeps coming back, or if you have an injury that's more complex than a simple misalignment, that approach falls short.

Novaré is a licensed Medical Corporation with a chiropractic foundation. What that means for you:

We Image Before We Adjust

Every new patient gets digital x-rays on the first visit. When a disc is suspected, we coordinate an MRI and Dr. Ivan Bracic reads it himself before treatment begins.

More Than One Tool

Cox flexion-distraction on a $25,000 table, the Pro Adjuster SRT for adjustments without cracking, and Class IV laser or shockwave therapy when a plan needs more.

Medical Oversight

Dr. Javier Sosa, MD, our Medical Director, oversees complex and injury cases. That lets us make emergency medical condition determinations for PIP and work with our neurosurgery referral network.

Licensed Medical Corporation

Novaré is a licensed medical corporation, not a chiropractic-only office. That changes what we can diagnose, treat and coordinate, and it keeps imaging and physician oversight under one roof.

Chiropractic Techniques at Novaré

Three distinct approaches, selected based on your diagnosis and comfort level.

1

Cox Flexion Distraction

A gentle technique on a specially designed table that stretches the spine in controlled motions, taking pressure off discs and nerves. It is often used for herniated discs, sciatica and stenosis.

2

Pro Adjuster SRT

An instrument that adjusts with gentle, repeated pulses instead of manual cracking. The pulses build gradually, which suits patients who prefer a softer approach to traditional adjustments.

3

Manual Spinal Adjustments

Traditional hands-on adjustments to restore alignment, ease nerve pressure and improve joint motion. Dr. Bracic has 30+ years of adjusting experience and adapts each one to your age and comfort.
